Conservation
"Society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."
- anonymous Greek proverb
Outdoor recreation is a privilege, and not a right. It is our duty as outdoorsmen/women to do our best when it comes to preserving the outdoors for generations to come. Small donations of our time and resources go a lot farther if we would all contribute something. Below are a few of the major conservation groups making a difference in the outdoor sector. Please take the time to check them out and contribute what you can to the cause.
NWTF - KY Chapter
National Wild Turkey Federation
The NWTF — a national nonprofit organization — is the leader in upland wildlife habitat conservation in North America.
The NWTF is dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of our hunting heritage.
Through vital partnerships with state, federal and provincial wildlife agencies, the NWTF and our members have helped restore wild turkey populations throughout North America — from a mere 30,000 in the entire United States to more than 7 million across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
THe rocky mountain elk foundation
The mission of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is to ensure the future of elk, other wildlife, their habitat and our hunting heritage. Find facts, such as the number of acres of elk habitat the RMEF has conserved or enhanced, the number of RMEF members and chapters across the country, and much more.
Ducks Unlimited
Ducks Unlimited conserves, restores, and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America's waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people.
Waterfowl conservation is facing important challenges as wetlands and other habitats are being degraded and destroyed across the continent. Ducks Unlimited has a vision to reverse this trend.
